Garth Brooks Live!

Incredible Show! He played for a solid two hours, every song was amazing, and he could have easily played hits for another few hours. Trisha Yearwood joined him for a few songs as well. We were the only ones in 12+ person box...not too bad! Definitely ranks as one of the best shows we've ever seen...

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Nothing entirely exciting to report, but since I figure many people are on the edge of their seats waiting for an update, I'll post...
We had a productive weekend that was kicked off on Friday night with a great Mexican food & margaritas dinner at Fidel's. On Saturday, we helped put on a garage sale fundraiser for our summer Greece trip. We had about ten participants, and most of the kids made around $100 or more apiece, which is great. Today's my dad's birthday, so Tim and I made a birthday dinner (chicken enchiladas) and watched movies yesterday evening at his house. As a birthday present to himself, my dad is on his way to Ramona today to pick up his present:

Door Decorations and Rainy Sundays

Our school had a holiday door decorating contest before Christmas, and my neighbor (and good friend and Greece-trip partner!) Marisa and I decided to enter together. Technically, I guess we kind of cheated because we combined our doors into one huge decoration...the theme we entered under was "California Holiday." After making a huge California cut-out, we made (with the help of the kids) 3-d CA landmarks, such as Disneyland, Lake Tahoe, the Capitol, Sea World, etc. We didn't win, but the teacher that did cheated even more than us, so among our students and each other, it's a first place door. Some of the landmarks are out of place...hey, we teach English, not geography...
A closer look (note Alcatraz) :)

In other news, it poured yesterday for most of the morning and early afternoon in North County. Nothing stops Tim...

Happy Birthday, Tim!

28 years young...

I gave Tim a GPS system for his birthday. The general consensus from family and friends is that I am in much more dire need of a navigational system than he is, but I figure he'll use it on camping trips, road trips, etc. We used it this morning to go to Wal-Mart and the movie theater...we arrived to both places in a timely fashion and completely aware of the fastest routes. :)

Happy birthday, Tim....some things never change:

2007: Year in Review

Tim had to go back to work today, and I'm still off until next week. Of course, I have unpacking to do, papers to grade, and errands to run, but chronicling the highlights of the past year somehow seemed a much more enticing option. I had to leave quite a few pictures out, but the following give a sufficient peek into 2007.
